The route of this tour runs through the territory of Klyuchevskoy Nature Park that is included into the World Heritage list of UNESCO. The uniqueness of the park is in the fact that there is an incredibly great number of volcanoes on the comparatively small area. The highest active volcano of Eurasia – Klyuchevskaya Sopka (4750 m) – is situated there. Another active volcano – Bezymyanny (2882 m) – is considered to be one of the most active volcanoes on the continent.

This tour also includes ascent the two active volcanoes Avachinsky (2741 m) and Mutnovsky (2323 m).

Day 1: Paratunka

Meeting at the airport of Elizovo. Transfer and accommodation at the recreation base of Paratunka or hotel of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

Day 2: Paratunka - Kozyrevsk Settlement

Transfer (8-10 hrs.) by a cross-country automobile to Kozyrevsk. Accommodation at the guesthouse of the settlement.

Day 3: Kozyrevsk – Dead forest

Transfer (about 5 hrs.) to the foot of Tolbachik volcano. Accommodation at the huts of our base camp in Dead Forest. Viewing the vicinity.

Day 4: Plosky Tolbachik volcano

Transfer about 40 min to the Sopka Kleshnya. The ascent to the crater of Plosky Tolbachik takes about 6 hrs. The descent to Sopka Kleshnya – 4-5 hrs. Along the way viewing the lava flows of 2012-13. Returning to the camp by vehicle.

Day 5: North Break

Viewing the cones of the North Break and Dead Forest, destroyed by burning hot ashes outburst resulting from the powerful eruption of 1975-76. Returning to the Camp 1.

Day 6: Dead forest – Base Tolud

Transfer to the Sopka Kleshnya. Viewing the new cones and caves formed in the result of the eruption of 2012-13. Walking (3-4 hrs.) to the Tolud base. Tent camp setting (Camp 1) near the base Tolud.

Day 7: Base Tolud – Pravy Tolbachik River

Walking (7-8 hrs.) to the river Pravy Tolbachik. The passage runs through the Tolud mountain pass that is situated between the volcanoes Ploskiy Tolbachik and Bolshaya Udina (2943 m). One should walk about 15 km over tough terrain on this day. Tent camp setting (Camp 2).

Day 8: Pravy Tolbachik River – Crater Mars

Walking (3-4 hrs.) to the waterfall near the crater Mars, crossing the Tolbachinskiy mountain pass that is situated between the volcanoes Ploskiy Tolbachik and Ovalnaya Zimina (3081 m). When the weather is good, a magnificent panorama with the view of almost all (10 of 14) volcanoes of the Klyuchevskaya group opens up from the mountain pass. Tent camp setting (Camp 3).

Day 9: Base Plotina

Radial walk (one way 7 km) to the volcanologists base Plotina that is situated at the foot of Bezymyanny volcano. Viewing Polennitsa mountain that is composed of separate basaltic posts. Returning to Camp 3.

Day 10: Crater Mars – Rivulet Barany

Walking (5-6 hrs.) to lava areas along the river Studienaya. Tent camp (Camp 4) is situated near the Barany rivulet. Observing the Studyenaya river canyon and seeing an Edelweiss Meadow.

Day 11: Rivulet Barany – Kozyrevsk Settlement

Walking (about 3 hrs.) to the Sopka Kopyto, then transfer (about 3 hrs.) by a cross-country automobile to Kozyrevsk and accommodation at the guesthouse of the settlement.

Day 12: Kozyrevsk – Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky

Transfer (about 8 hrs.) and accommodation at the hotel of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

Day 13: Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky – AVACHINSKY VOLCANO

Sightseeing tour around Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, souvenir shop and fish market. Evening transfer (about 1,5 hrs.) by a cross-country automobile to the area of the volcanic plateau between the volcanoes Avachinsky (2740 m) and Кoryaksky (3456 m). Accommodation at the huts of the Base Three Volcanoes.

DAY 14: Avachinsky volcano

The ascent to Avachinsky volcano – 5-6 hrs. Viewing the crater – 1 hr. The descent – 3-4 hrs.

Day 15: AVACHINSKY VOLCANO – Paratunka

Transfer (about 1,5 hrs.) and accommodation at the hotel of Paratunka. This day may be used for helicopter excursion to the Kuril lake or Valley of Geysers.

Day 16: Paratunka – Mutnovsky volcano

Transfer (4-5 hrs.) by a cross-country automobile to the foot of Mutnovsky volcano (2323 m). The ascent crater of the volcano takes about 2 hrs. Viewing fumarole grounds and volcano craters – 2 hrs. The descent – 1 hr. Viewing the Opasny canyon, into which 80-meter’s waterfall falls down. Evening returning to the hotel of Paratunka.

Day 17: Transfer to the airport

The tour price does not include helicopter excursion to the Valley of Geysers and Kuril lake.

The participants of this tour are to be ready for long automobile transfers along forestry and gravel road of bad quality.
