VILUCHINSKY VOLCANO
To the south-west of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, beyond the Avacha Bay, there is a regular cone of the Viluchinsky Volcano with the height of 2175 m . There is a small depression of the destroyed crater in the north pre-top slope of the cone. The irregularity of the cone by deep barrancoes indicates that lava eruptions there were a long time ago. The volcano is considered extinct.
The Viluchinsky Volcano is not difficult for climbling, and people often climb up unprepared specially.
To the north of the Viluchinsky volcano the volcanic activity formed about 25 slag cones and lava domes. In the valley of the Paratunka River the beautiful cone of the Barhatnaya Mountain is formed by dark-red slag.
